The first thing I did was to find out who manufactures the solar panels. The company JA solar. They don't make 5 by 1 solar panels but they do make 2 by 1 solar panels. The solar panels are from square cells that are either 6 inches by 6 inches or square cells that are either 5 inches by 5 inches. The model JAM6 72/300-320 are 12 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 2 by 1 (where the individual cells are 6 inches by 6 inches. The 300-320 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1956mm long and 991mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.97. The model JAM5 (R) 72/200-220 are 12 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 2 by 1 (where the individual cells are 5 inches by 5 inches. The 200-220 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1580mm long and 808mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.955. The model JAM5 60/250-270 are 10 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 5 by 3 (where the individual cells are 6 inches by 6 inches. The 250-270 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1650mm long and 991mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.66.
